The market spotlight at the end of the week will be on US Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, who is due to speak at a conference on the international role of the dollar.

His speech is scheduled to start at 1345 BST.

Also due out are readings for industrial production and consumer confidence in May.

The latter may be of particular interest to the extent that it confirms, or not, the weakness in the University of Michigan's measure which recently plumbed a record low.

Further afield, in Tokyo, overnight rate-setters in Tokyo are set to announce their latest policy decision with the consensus being for no change in the target for the 10-year Japanese government bond yield.

Across the Channel meanwhile, at 1000 BST Eurostat is scheduled to publish a final reading for euro area consumer prices in May.

No major economic reports are scheduled for release in the UK.
