The contract will see Wood Group provide services to Shell's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas platform facility in Western Australia – the largest floating offshore gas facility in the world. No financial details were disclosed regarding the contract.
"We are delighted to build on our 70-year global relationship with Shell to deliver integrated brownfield engineering solutions for Prelude," said Wood's chief executive Ken Gilmartin.
"LNG is a key transition fuel as industry balances the need for global energy security with the importance of urgent reduction in carbon emissions."
Shell owns a 67.5% in Prelude, which has a production capacity of 5.3m tonnes per annum of liquids. The facility started production in late-2018 and is expected to stay at its location 200km off the coast for 20 to 25 years in total.
Gilmartin said the award underlines Wood's position as a "market leader for brownfield engineering across Australia".
