BA and Iberia owner IAG was the top gainer on the index.

Entain was among the fallers following a report that the Financial Reporting Council has begun an investigation into KPMG’s audit of the Ladbrokes owner for the year ended December 2022.

The FRC said the investigation will be conducted by its Enforcement Division under the Audit Enforcement Procedure.

British Land was in the red despite an upgrade to ‘hold’ from ‘underperform’ at Jefferies.

Segro was also weaker after Jefferies cut its price target on the ‘hold’ rated stock to 751p from 804p.
