The AIM-traded firm said he would also join the board of directors.

Its board said Averkamp would bring three decades of international experience in industrial manufacturing and construction machinery.

He was most recently chief operating officer at Stoughton Trailers, one of North America’s largest trailer manufacturers, where he led strategic development for the transport solutions division.

Previously, he spent four years as group president at Astec Industries, overseeing global operations in construction machinery and materials solutions.

It said his leadership was focussed on operational and commercial performance, product innovation, international expansion, and customer-centric growth strategies.

Earlier in his career, Averkamp held various senior roles over 22 years at Deere & Company, primarily in the construction and forestry equipment division.

His responsibilities included joint venture management, engineering, marketing, and technical leadership.

Averkamp holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and an MBA from the University of Dubuque, Iowa.

“Tim brings a wealth of relevant construction machinery and public markets experience,” said chairman Larry Horsch.

“He has an exceptional track record of driving growth, commercial and operational excellence, and innovation, and his leadership qualities make him the ideal candidate to lead the company through its next phase of growth.

“On behalf of the board and the wider organization, I am pleased to welcome him to Somero.”

At 1047 GMT, shares in Somero Enterprises were flat at 260p.
