The AIM-traded firm said the system, known as the On-Board Hub, was designed to improve fleet efficiency, enhance oversight, and elevate the passenger experience by integrating multiple functions into a single platform.

Developed in collaboration with Navaho Technologies, the company said the On-Board Hub uses its cloud-based software to host applications such as CCTV, vehicle location tracking, safety sensors, and real-time passenger information.

The pilot was expected to run over the next 12 months, with the potential for broader rollout across Stagecoach’s fleet pending successful results.

“We are delighted that Ocular has been awarded this contract with the UK's largest bus and coach operator, which will be piloting its next-generation, on-vehicle technology,” said chief executive and financial officer Amanda Larnder.

“The contract not only recognises Ocular's long-standing experience in the transport sector but also demonstrates Ocular's expertise in understanding and responding to customers' individual needs by developing an on-vehicle surveillance solution that responds to their unique requirements.

“Ocular has been working with Stagecoach since 2003 and we are hugely excited to partner with them on this new project, rolling out our innovative technology across their fleet to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience.”

At 1232 BST, shares in Synectics were up 1.07% at 331p.
