Team Internet and Colombian domain registrar CCI REG will form a new joint venture called Equipo PuntoCo to manage Colombia's country code domain, with Equipo PuntoCo set to retain 8% of gross revenues from registrations and renewals as compensation for its registry services.

The AIM-listed group noted that with more than 3.0m active registrations, .co was "one of the world's most prominent and trusted country-code domain extensions" and said that while rooted in Colombia, the domain has "earned a global reputation as the domain of choice" for startups, creators, and enterprises seeking a "short, brandable, and credible online identity".

Chief executive Michael Riedl said: "Winning the .co mandate is a milestone moment for Team Internet. It strengthens our position as a global leader in domain infrastructure and affirms our capability to manage nationally critical internet assets with trust, stability, and innovation.

"Together with our joint venture partner CCI REG, we are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility by the Colombian government on behalf of the people of Colombia. We are deeply grateful for their trust and excited to support the digital ambitions of millions of .co users in Colombia and around the world."

As of 0930 BST, Team Internet shares were up 2.06% at 64.30p.
