Wednesday preview: Fed meeting, UK CPI in focus.


All eyes in the middle of the week will be on the US central bank as policymakers meet to decide on policy.

Rate-setters at the Federal Reserve are expected to stay put on rates.

"Meaningful" revisions to their 2025 economic forecasts were anticipated as a "mark-to-market" exercise, economists at BofA said.

Those for 2026 on the other hand were expected to be mostly unchanged as there was too much uncertainty.

"Finally, we expect Chair Powell to repeat his message from the May press conference: Policy is in a good place and there is no hurry for the Fed to act."

Also due out are reading on housing starts and permits for May and initial weekly jobless claims.

Earlier, at 0600 BST the Office for National Statistics was scheduled to release consumer price data for May.

It would be followed at 0900 BST Eurostat will publish consumer price figures for the euro area in May.
