Pharos Energy appoints new non-executive chair.


Pharos Energy announced the appointment of João Saraiva e Silva as its new non-executive chair on Thursday, succeeding John Martin, who stepped down at the company’s recent annual general meeting.

It described Saraiva e Silva as a seasoned energy professional with more than 25 years of experience in private equity and investment banking.

He is currently a partner at Pamplona Capital Management, focusing on business development and portfolio management across Europe.

“We are delighted to welcome João to the board,” said chief executive Katherine Roe.

“His expertise complements the existing skills of the management team and will be of significant value as we continue to execute our growth strategy.

“I would also like to thank John for his significant contribution to the company over many years.”

Saraiva e Silva’s career included senior roles at Och-Ziff Capital Management, Carlyle’s International Energy Partners fund, L1 Energy, and Seatankers, following an early career at Goldman Sachs advising major energy clients on mergers and acquisitions, and financing.

He also currently serves as a non-executive director of BlueNord ASA, and previously held board positions at Flex LNG and Northern Ocean.

Saraiva e Silva holds 250,000 shares in Pharos.

“Pharos has a solid portfolio of valuable assets and a highly capable team and I am looking forward to working together to unlock the Company’s full potential,” commented Saraiva e Silva.

He would also chair the company’s nominations and ESG committees.

At 1310 BST, shares in Pharos Energy were up 2.31% at 21.13p.
