The AIM-traded company said Hill’s appointment was aimed at strengthening its technical capacity and supporting the transition of Zulu into long-term profitable production.

It added that, subject to the successful completion of regulatory checks and a probationary period, Hill could be invited to join the board as chief executive officer, following the resignation of George Roach, announced in May.

“I am pleased and relieved that Graham has accepted this,” said chairman Godfrey Manhambara.

“I expect that his contribution to the final resolution of the issues at Zulu will be marked and significant.

“Graham has wide experience that has direct relevance to our operations, and I welcome his hands-on direct approach at Zulu.”

Hill is a qualified engineer with more than 41 years of experience in mine development and management across Africa, southern Europe and central Asia.

He was most recently chief operating officer at Adriatic Metals, where he oversaw the development of the Vares Project in Bosnia.

His career included roles delivering the Silver Bear silver mine in Siberia, mine development projects for Oxus Gold, and senior operational roles at Anglo American and Axmin.

At 1256 BST, shares in Premier African Minerals were up 9.09% at 0.01p.
