GSK gained as it entered into a partnership with Chinese pharmaceutical outfit Hengrui Pharma to jointly develop up to 12 medicines, in a deal that could be worth up to $12bn.
The pharmaceuticals group said in a statement that the agreement provides it with new growth opportunities beyond 2031.
BT Group was the biggest loser on the index, having surged last Thursday on the back of a trading statement in which it hailed a "solid" start to the year.
