The non-farm payrolls report for the month of September is scheduled to be published on Friday by America's Department of Labor.
Labor will also release its latest JOLTS report on Tuesday and consultancy ADP a survey of private sector payrolls on Wednesday.
Also of great importance, the new US fiscal year kicks off on 1 October, but that's when the federal government's current spending authority runs out - barring a last minute agreement amongst lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Otherwise, a partial government shutdown is imminent.
Against that backdrop, manufacturing sector purchasing managers' surveys are due out in China, on Tuesday, and in the UK, euro area, Japan and US on the following day.
Comparable survey findings, but for services sector activity this time, will also be published on Friday.
A raft of government debt auctions will take place in the UK, euro area and US on Thursday.
