The AIM-traded firm’s launch followed its integration into the SMO platform, which certifies that gold is traceable from mine to market and produced to the highest environmental, social and governance standards.
It said all Nalunaq gold shipped to the UK was now SMO-accredited, providing customers with “complete transparency and assurance” that the metal was responsibly mined and mercury-free.
In line with its community-focused strategy, Amaroq said SMO gold from Nalunaq would be available exclusively to Greenlandic residents, ensuring local access to the country’s first fully traceable gold.
Chief operating officer Joan Plant said the launch reflected Amaroq’s commitment to transparency and collaboration with local communities.
“We are incredibly proud to offer Single Mine Origin gold from Nalunaq directly to the people of Greenland,” she said.
“This initiative reflects our deep commitment to transparency, ethical mining and collaboration with local communities.
“Through the SMO platform, we are setting a new standard for sustainability and community partnership in the region.”
Charlie Betts, managing director of Betts Group and Single Mine Origin, said Amaroq had shown a strong commitment to responsible mining and environmental stewardship.
“We are delighted to formally launch Amaroq’s Nalunaq mine under the Single Mine Origin standard, which enables us to offer fully traceable gold from the mine to the people of Greenland,” he said.
“This collaboration allows the local community to participate in the mine's ongoing success and in Amaroq's contribution to the region's economy.”
At 0843 BST, shares in Amaroq were down 3.83% at 94.88p.
