The AIM-traded company said the R/V Gyre, operated by TDI Brooks International, mobilised from Trinidad on 17 January and was en route to Jamaica, with arrival in Kingston expected in five to six days.

Following pre-survey inspection and acceptance procedures, offshore operations were expected to start on or around 27 January.

Once operations start, the vessel would initially undertake a multibeam echo sounder survey, followed by heat flow measurements and seabed piston coring.

Recovered core samples would then be shipped to TDI Brooks’ laboratory in the United States for detailed geochemical analysis.

United said preliminary results were expected one to two months after completion of the offshore work, with final analysis anticipated around mid-2026.

The survey was designed to confirm the presence of thermogenic hydrocarbons and further de-risk the Walton Morant basin, providing data to support future exploration activity on the licence.

United said it would provide further updates as the programme progresses, including following the completion and review of the multibeam survey, which would inform the final selection of piston coring locations.

“This survey represents a key milestone in advancing our Jamaica exploration programme,” said chief executive Brian Larkin.

“With the R/V Gyre now en route, we are entering an important phase of data acquisition that is expected to significantly enhance our understanding of the basin.”

He added that the results would play a central role in de-risking the licence and informing future strategic decisions, as the company looked to unlock the potential value of more than 7.1 billion barrels of unrisked prospective resources offshore Jamaica.

At 1132 GMT, shares in United Oil & Gas were down 9.62% at 0.12p.
