The NHTSA has announced a recall of 1.39m F-150 pickups trucks, manufactured between March 2014 and August 2017, due to an apparent malfunction with the transmission range sensor.

Unexpected downshifting into second gear could cause a temporary reduction in wheel speed and lead to the loss of control of the vehicle, the regulator said.

Ford is reportedly aware of two "potentially" related injuries and one accident linked to the issue.

The F-Series is Ford's best-selling pickup truck in the US, with over 800,000 vehicles sold in 2025, with F-150 being the most popular model.

Despite the recall news, Ford shares were up 3.6% at $12.89 by 1504 BST.
