In a brief update, the AIM-listed firm said it expected to post "strong" revenues for the six months to 30 September of around £62.5m. Last year Peel Hunt posted interim group revenues of £74.4m, up 38% on 2024.

Publishing full-year numbers in June, Peel Hunt - which specialises in mid-cap firms - acknowledged that global inflationary pressures, an uncertain outlook for interest rates and increased domestic political activity had weighed on transactional activity since the start of the current year.

However, it said on Thursday it had seen "healthy activity levels" across the group’s core businesses during the first half.

It continued: "The group was encouraged by its market share in equity capital markets and by institutional demand for equity raises during the period, and completed a number of significant advisory mandates.

"Unlike [last year], the first half was not characterised by a concentration of large merger and acquisition transactions, but by a broader and more balanced mix of M&A and ECM activity."

It concluded: "While risks remain around the timing and execution of transactions, the group enters the second half with a solid pipeline of opportunities across a diverse range of transactions."

The group is scheduled to post interim results on 18 November.

As at 1430 BST, the stock was up 1% at 91.1p.
