Miles is expected to take up the role and join the board next year. She joined Severn Trent in November 2014 as chief commercial officer, and in 2020 became the capital and commercial services director, before being appointed CFO in July 2023.

Previously, Miles was CFO for HomeServe and Openreach, part of the BT Group. Prior to BT, she worked in a variety of organisations including Bass Taverns, Barclays Bank, and Compass Group.

Vistry said Miles is an experienced business leader with a strong track record across listed-company finance, strategy, capital markets, investor relations, treasury and operational leadership. She also serves as non-executive director of Breedon Group.

Robert Allen has been appointed as interim CFO and joins the board with immediate effect. He will remain in the role pending Miles’ arrival in 2027.

Non-executive chair Rob Woodward said: "I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Helen Miles as CFO of Vistry. Helen is a high calibre finance and business executive who I am confident will work with the board, Adam and the rest of the leadership team to maximise the strengths and opportunities of the group's mixed tenure partnership model."

At 0903 GMT, Vistry shares were up 3.7% at 264.60p, while Severn Trent was down 0.9% at 3,222p.
