Appointment of Mrs. Bashirat Odunewu as Senior Independent Non- Executive Director
Lagos and London - April 30, 2025: Seplat Energy has announced the appointment of Mrs. Bashirat Odunewu, Independent Non-Executive Director, as the new Senior Independent Non-Executive Director ("SINED") of its Board, effective April 25, 2025. She succeeds Mr. Bello Rabiu, who stepped down to join the Board of NNPC Limited.
Mrs. Odunewu joined the Seplat Energy Board on May 18, 2022, during which time she has served as a Member of the Risk Management & HSSE Committee, Board Finance & Audit Committee, Nominations & Governance Committee, Statutory Audit Committee and Chairman of the Energy Transition Committee. She is currently the Chairman of the Board Finance and Audit Committee.
Mrs. Odunewu has 30 years of experience in the finance and banking industry, with a strong background in corporate banking, energy, natural resources, and infrastructure. She previously served as a C-suite executive at First Bank Nigeria Ltd and has held leadership roles overseeing international banking operations across multiple African countries and China.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, Chairman of Seplat Energy, stated:
