Heddle, who will be replaced as CEO by Shaun Day next week, bought the shares at an average price of 22.40p each, for a total price of £112,000.
Last week, Greatland Gold reported further "excellent" results from Newcrest's drilling campaign at the Havieron deposit in the Paterson region of Western Australia on Thursday.
The AIM-traded firm said the latest results confirmed the continuity of higher-grade mineralisation within the South East Crescent and Breccia.
As of 1650 GMT, Greatland shares were down 4.18% at 23.48p.
