Of particular interest will be the latest UK claimant count figures and unemployment tally which are due out on Tuesday.
Investors will be keen to see if the recent increase in Covid-19 cases has had an impact given the slowdown in GDP seen in July.
The same holds for the August UK retail sales report due out on Friday.
Both those reports will be preceded by the UK consumer price data on Tuesday.
Stateside, the coming week's key reports will be those covering US consumer prices, retail sales and consumer confidence, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Thursday will also bring with it a slew of Chinese activity data for August which could easily move financial markets around the world.
